I made a promise to myself that I would post a review of everything I read (along with everything else I've already stated I plan on doing reviews for). Yes, this means even those books that I used to be embarrassed to admit to reading and enjoying.

I have very eclectic tastes in books. I read everything from psychological thrillers to the smuttiest of smut books. This includes shifters (started with fanfic and I am picky about my shifter type) and aliens/monsters (again, picky about my monster type).

I am currently working my way through all the books I have 'borrowed' from Kindle Unlimited. Once the list is empty, I will then start loading it again from my various wish lists. I finished just one such book last night.

Alien Nanny Agency is a set of four books by Tasha Black. All four books are free with Kindle Unlimited.

The first book is Alien Architect Needs a Nanny. The summary is:

She’s there to watch over his children, but he’ll have to watch out for his heart.

Emelia Robbins works as an admin at the Alien Nanny Agency. She never goes on assignments, but when a desperate client puts out a last-minute plea for help, her boss decides to send her out in the field. It’s a one-year nanny contract, and if she fulfills it, she’ll earn a bonus big enough to make her dreams come true. But when she meets the out-of-control kids, she isn’t sure she’ll last a week. And her intimidating new boss might not let her make it through a single night. Mr. Drayven may be a well-respected architect, but his deep voice makes her tremble and his big body leaves her weak with unrequited lust.

Ra’as Drayven is working on the biggest project of his career. He needs a nanny who won’t head for the hills as soon as she meets his energetic daughter and complicated son. When the Alien Nanny Agency agrees to send help, he expects a matronly drill sergeant from the Outer Rings, not the beautiful young Terran who trips out of a rented gadabout and into his home. This alien needs a nanny! But the last thing he wants is another pretty face using her employment to try and win his broken heart. Especially when her innocent eyes and dangerous curves might give her the power to do just that.

First, the summary is wrong. I don't recall anything about a one year contract. Her boss did have to promise her a huge bonus to take the job but I do not remember mention of the contract only being a year. Especially since the children are young. The 'complicated' son is a preteen and the energetic daughter is four (do you know any four year old who isn't energetic?

It has all the common romance novel troupes such as major miscommunications, age gap, boss/employee, and rich man/poor(er) woman.

It is never stated just how big the age gap is, but I'm guessing at least ten years. The miscommunications are really stupid and all of them are on his side. Well, all but one.

He has locked his emotions away, along with himself, after his wife died defending their solar system from an invading army. He sees almost all women as wanting something from him in the form of marriage. So when she starts trying to make the kids feel confident, he sees it as her trying to get in good with him.

The first miscommunication is in regards to what she feeds the kids. He has his cook make this flavorless goop that has all the nutrients and vitamins they need. she refuses to feed that to them so she makes a recipe for chocolate cupcakes, substituting in vegetables to make it healthy. He only sees the chocolate cupcakes and thinks she allowed them to eat cake for dinner. He does apologize after seeing how she modified it.

Actually, I lied. the first miscommunication happened when they first met.

As a Terran, she is considered inferior to other species. When she arrived on this planet, the agent at the rental car counter refused to give her the car that was rented for her. This caused her to be late because the car was so old it barely got up to speed.

But the one that really pissed me off, was after she had gone out one night (after the kids were in bed and she was off the clock). He questioned where she was going and then demanded to know where she had been when she got home.

I really do not like 'alpha male' types and was afraid this was headed that way due to his attitude in regards to what she did in her off hours.

I'm not going to spoil it, although I'm sure none of you will read it and it's a romance novel so the ending is kind of a given.
